From Paris Fashion Week

Sending you lots of love and macarons from an insanely hectic, fantastic, fun Paris Fashion Week! On the first night here I visited the huge H&M event with all the worlds fashion and movie stars and even did a little dance with Cara Delevingne and Lindsey Wixson. I'll tell you all about that soon. Best. Fashion Week moment. Ever.

Right now I'm on my way to go backstage at Roland Mouret - extremely exciting (and equally intense since I've been working until 02.30 at night. See, Fashion Week isn't a holiday but with better clothes). After that I'll meet up with friends (I'm here with Cindy and Chantal) for coffee and croissants and jump in a cab to go backstage at Isabel Marant! I couldn't be more excited. I'll be doing an interview for ELLE and photograph the toppest of top models getting ready for This chick's got style. Keep you posted! Bisous, Yara

Spring in a shoe

When I first spotted these leopard and suede sandals at Barneys Co-Op in New York last September during Fashion Week, I was smitten. I wouldn't dare leave New York without a new pair of shoes (it's like leaving Hawaii without a floral shirt, or leaving Paris without macarons!), I was still high on the NY buzz and had some deep shoe and bag conversations with the loveliest sale girl that recognized me from my blog. And before I knew it, I was swiping a Mastercard and purchased these chic black suede and blue/green/gray-ish animal hair strappy sandals. 

When push came to shove, I didn't dare ruin them in the beige sand at Jardin des Tuileris during Paris FW a week later and right after that fall started. Since I never got to wear them yet (such a shame!) and they're just standing by my bed being pretty, I figured they at least deserved a proper post. I can almost feel spring when I look at these (main spring thoughts include midnight cocktail moments, super tan lags that will never happen, and far away fashion trips) and can't wait to finally break them in. Let's go leopard!

NYFW favorites and a little show analysis

Although NYFW shows are still in full swing (it's the last day!), here's a little recap of some of my favorite looks so far. There are so many more but this is just a snipped of what caught my eye. What is your #1 favorite look out of the above?

Trends will be analyzed soon enough after Fashion Month is over, but here's me blurting out some tendencies that seem to be in the air for fall/winter 2013, in my humble point of view:

• Colors I've seen a lot are navy combined with black, forrest green, winter whites and washed out brights.

• Hints of bohemian and oriental influences but with a more modern feel. The other way around, there are many cool new takes on classic prints (houndstooth galore!).

• Boxy shapes with rounded shoulders. If anything is fitted, it's high at the hip rather than in the waist. 

• Pajama dressing is still around but in a more grown up, controlled way. 

• Layers and layers, for coziness and simply because playing around with many pieces in one outfit allows you to display more of your personal style. 

• Coats are a focus point, rather than shoes or bags.

• Fabrics are often fluffy and furry, quite touchable. There was a lot of shiny, oversized leather too.

• Also, over the knee boots are everything.

Two days in Copenhagen during FW

At the kick off of Copenhagen Fashion Week shoe brand ECCO invited me to Copenhagen for This chick's got style to attend their annual Walk in Style event - which is centered around five European superwoman that support a charity - and get to know the brand better. The little raspberry bag (LOVE that one!), and pretty much all of the boots you see in this post are ECCO. You might be familiar with the brand, but what you (or at least I myself) didn't know is that it's a only a part of their huge company. They've got leather tanneries all over the world that produce for major fashion houses in Paris, New York, Londen and more (yes, I'm talking about those big British, French and Italian ones that we all know, covet and some that I even have designer bags from). Fascinating.

Also on this whirlwind trip to Copenhagen: exquisite lunch in the theatre by the water, the event itself, a tiny bit of shopping (BikBok! Gina Tricot! Weekday! I scored the cutest woven festival shorts seen in the mirror pic) and a few hours of sleep in a delicious bed stacked with piles of fluffy pillows. Although I'm fortunate enough to travel quite a bit for both ELLE and my blog, I enjoy the hotel experience each and every time. I hang out my clothes (and feel proud of the capsule collection I've packed), stall out my jewelry and make-up, take a bath two times a day and walk around in the heavy white robe every nanosecond I can. 

In neon on Stockholm Streetstyle

Being snapped by one of Daniel and Caroline's huge lenses is always a pleasure. The photography on Stockholm streetstyle still ranks as one of my favorite websites to capture everything that goes on at Fashion Weeks and, with the rapidly increasing army of streetstyle photographers (really, there's 10 photographers for 1 dressed up model/stylist/blogger now, it's almost looks a bit silly at times) - still publishes unique shots. Another good thing is that I didn't have time myself to photograph this little neon number I wore to the Viktor & Rolf show (you saw a snap from Vogue here and by a colleague here). That, and the ridiculously tan legs I have, at least up to the standards of someone who's skin is pretty much translucent half of the year.
